Local sales are arranged with cash on delivery payment, please contact us to arrange details.

 

For sales requiring shipping, full payment is required a few days before the delivery date. Email transfer is preferred (PayPal can be arranged for a 3% surcharge fee to cover transactions costs). Once payment is received, then the shipping fee will be paid to Reptile Express and the shipping confirmed.

 

We arrange shipping across Canada for an $100, primarily through ReptileExpress.com and we provide all shipping supplies required (insulated box and heat packs as necessary).  Delivery can be arranged for most Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursdays (between 9AM- 5PM). Personal receipt and signature is required at dropoff, or pickup at a local 'hub' can be arranged.  Shipping is only offered to areas serviced by Reptile Express. Tortoises can only be sold in Canada. No International sales.

 

We do not attempt to determine gender of our babies. They are incubated at a temperature attempting to produce a 50:50 ratio of males to females.

 

"Live Arrival" Guarantee: We guarantee the tortoise for the first 24 hours after arrival. In the unfortunate event that a tortoise dies within this time period, Slow 'N Steady Tortoises must be contacted immediately with proof of animal demise. The death must not be caused by mistreatment by the buyer. Replacement of the tortoise, or refund of the purchase price will be offered.

 

Slow 'N Steady Tortoises is not responsible for knowing the laws, rules and regulations, or bylaws of your province, town, or municipality and therefore cannot be held liable.

 

Each sales receipt guarantees your tortoise is Canadian Captive Bred. Please keep the receipt for future reference and proof of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What species are available? Hermanns and Greek tortoises.

How big will a Hermanns tortoise grow? Usually 5-7".

How big will a Greek tortoise grow?    Usually 5-8".

How long do pet tortoises live? May live longer than 50 years in captivity!

How do I pay? Electronic Money Transfer or Pay Pal  (3% surcharge), once payment is received, the hatchling will be shipped.

How do you ship tortoises?  Reptile Express (Toronto) facilitates shipping of reptiles to most places in Canada, Tues-Thursday. Right to your door!

Do you offer a health guarantee? We guarantee "live arrival":

Can I order a male or female? No, the gender is not identifiable in tortoises until at least year 2-3.

Can I keep more than one together? Babies and juveniles do well together. Adult males often need to be kept alone. Aggressive breeding attempts may harm females and two males may be aggressive towards each other.

Do Tortoises carry samonella? Handwashing after handling any reptile is always recommended due to the potential risk of salmonella .
